We’re Back!

So we are back. I know we have been away from the blog for a bit and the reason (actually reasons) include Summer, no time, and computer issues.
First off, here in St. John’s we didnt actually start to get warm summer weather until late into the season and that went into early October. We had a great September and enjoyed it! We got outside a lot and just did nothing. Since I will be returning to the work force very soon I’m trying to enjoy all the little things that come along with being off with Hunter. I guess that is where the no time issue comes in as well.
But I’m back and ready to get things up and running again, I have had some computer issues, my poor MacBook Pro (circa 2006) is finally giving up on me. Well it’s just the mag safe power cord but still it hurts a little. Everything is back up and fine now, and I have an iPad now so I will post from here the most I would say.
Another big thing in our family’s life right now is HOCKEY! The AHL is back in St. John’s. We are avid hockey fans and are very excited to see a tenant at Mile One Centre here in the city. Since we were planning on going to most games we purchased two season tickets. Hunter comes along as well, he is allowed in free until he is two years old. More about hockey in an upcoming post.
Thanks for coming back, thanks for joining us on this ride. We have a new YouTube page as well for our reviews etc so you will see some videos soon.

I know I’ve been MIA lately but we have been on holidays and away from the computer. It’s been nice and relaxing! I will do a better update soon!
Hope everyone is having a great summer!
Quick post while on holidays…

I am currently at my inlaws on holidays for a week, and my husband is joining myself and Hunter on Thursday for the long weekend here in Canada.
He checked the mail today (yeah! we have mail service again) and I have three diapers and a wetbag that came, fluff mail!
When he brings them out to me (we are five hours apart) I will take pictures and do a quick post.
Also had a great customer service experience this week. One of our chocolate oh katy diapers had an issue with a snap, and I emailed them and they are sending a replacement asap. Awesome company to deal with and of course the oh katys are my favorite diaper!
Hope your weather is better than ours here in Newfoundland!! RDF (rain….drizzle and lots of FOG!)
Summer Holidays?

Kids officially finished school today here and summer holidays are in full swing except for the weather. Newfoundland is definitely living up to the stereotypes this year….its freezing. Today it was about 6 degrees with RDF (for you come from aways that’s Rain, Drizzle, Fog). It sucks, this is the first summer that I have not worked since I was about 15 years old. No really, I have always worked, and I have high hopes for this summer being off on maternity leave and enjoying sun filled days at the park splashing in the pool. Ha.
Tomorrow we are headed to my husbands parents home. Its about a five hour drive (hate the drive) but looking forward to seeing his parents. They haven’t seen Hunter since May, so he has changed a lot and they will have fun with him for sure.
We are still going strong with the cloth diapering, I am loving it! I have added to my stash as well, it now includes some:
- bumgenius
- oh katy
- bummis
- kawaii
I am still waiting for Canada Post to go back to work so I will get the rest of my diapers. I have given up hope on getting my Canada Day diaper from Bumblebaby Diapers (located in Ottawa). She had some amazing fabrics for Canada Day, and I ordered two (both with red background and white maple leafs). She sent them, but then Canada Post were locked out, so we will see if they go back in time for me to get them.
I’ve embed my latest cloth diapering video for you to have a look as well.
Sunny skies ahead!

Today I bought some cloth diapering supplies that I found on some local classifieds. They are used but in great, great, great condition! I am very happy with my find.
This is what I got:
- 6 – Small Super Brite Bummis Covers ( I know these are too small for Hunter but I will pass on )\
- 3 – Medium Super Brite Bummis Covers
- 7 – Medium Super Whisper Wraps
- 13 – Bum Genius Doublers
- 24 - Large Bummis Prefolds
- 12 – Small Bummis Prefolds
- 7 – Breathable Nylon Covers
- 12 – Indisposables Fitted Diapers (need covers)
- 40 – Homemade (really great quality) Soakers
- 1 – Small Wetbag
- 2 – Small Size Snappis
- 2 – Large Size Snappis
- 3 – Rolls of Flushable Liners
I am going to get everything washed up and start trying them out! I am also picking up some Kushie brand AIOs tonight for a great price ( I know these are the lower end of CD but I am getting them cheap, cheap, cheap!)
After a few days of use I will give an update of how everything is working (or not working).
Am I crazy?

I have an idea and I may be crazy to even consider it, but I want to make a cloth diaper. I have a half decent sewing machine but I only learned how to use it this week.
I’m a newbie when it comes to sewing, I’m learning as I’m going. YouTube has been so good in helping me with the basics.
I found some instructions for making a cloth diaper and it seems simple enough. I need to pick up the supplies (I probably won’t even find the waterproof PUL here in St. John’s).
So I’m going to try this! I will take photos/video of my trying this for amusement (I promise there will be cursing).
Love the weekend

It’s a very lazy Sunday, we have a birthday party in a little bit for a friends child, and then we might do a little geocaching. We wanted to place a geocache this weekend with Hunters name on it, but we are still looking for a good container, I know I have some around the house but I haven’t been able to really look yet.
We began geocaching about two years ago, I just stumbled upon the site one day and was hooked from the beginning. Our geocaching.com handle is carlaandbaxter if you want to find us.
We don’t usually do a lot of caching in the winter because our weather normally sucks, and this year we did have a newborn so geocaching took a back seat. Now that the weather is getting better we have picked up our Garmin GPS again and started the hunt. Baxter and I are always in competition I swear, so geocaching lets us duke it out by seeing who finds the cache first. I have to admit Baxter is usually better at finding them.
So we are off for a family day! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! And a long weekend for all you Americans, we had ours last weekend.
Carla
