Enjoy!

The Backyardigans…in concert!

The Backyardigans Quest for the Extra Ordinary AliensSo we did not know if Hunter would be too young to go and see the Backyardigans live here in St. John’s, but I purchased tickets anyways. He loves music and bright colours so I thought he would at least look interested.

Luckily I purchased tickets through Sonic Concerts pre sale so we had seats in the second row, we were close so we could see the stage and all characters up close.

The concert was held at the Holy Heart Theater (brought back memories as this is my old High School). We got there for what we believed was early, but couldn’t find a parking spot anywhere. I quickly remembered Sobeys behind Heart so we went there to park. It was a perfect parking spot because there is a paved pathway from Sobeys to Holy Heart now (wasn’t there when I went to school, we had to jump through a fence, but that’s another story).

We already had our tickets so we went straight in. Hunter is not old enough to see the lights and t-shirts that were being sold in the porch so we walked past that as well. It was packed, glad to see that these types of concerts do so well here. There were kids running everywhere and they were all so excited to see the Backyardigans.

The show started promptly at 4pm (there was an early show at 2pm). Hunter loved the actress playing the alien, he wouldn’t take his eyes off of her and her green hair whenever she was on stage. Overall, it was a great show. Hunter got squirmy at the end of it, but that is to be expected for an 11 month old. All of the children seemed to really enjoy it and were going nuts over Pablo!

Hunter was a bit young to really understand, but seeing how it was his first concert experience I think he did great. There were very young babies and older children there as well. We had a great time!

Halloween Recap

Well yesterday was Halloween and in true Newfoundland style it was quite gross here throughout the day. It was cold, raining, and windy. Since Hunter is ten months old we dressed him up for a couple pictures (it was his first Halloween). We visited a couple neighbors and family members and that was it. It was too miserable outside to enjoy it.

Hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween!

Here are a few snaps of our little monkey:

Halloween Preperation

Monday’s Halloween and it will be Hunters first Halloween. I am normally not a big fan of Halloween but having a child seems to make you more excited for these sorts of things. We have a cute monkey costume picked up for him from Old Navy and are ready for the trick or treating (hoping the weather gets better here in St. John’s).

Where we are located we don’t get many kids on Halloween but my parents do spew will head there so Hunter can see the other kids in their costumes. We are planning to bring Hunter to a couple of our neighbors doors because I know they want to see him dressed up.

Other than his costume, I really don’t have any decorations up. He is only ten months so really doesn’t understand it yet. I have made some cookies and decorated some pretzel rods for our friends children.

There are many events throughout the city this weekend for kids to get into the Halloween mood, we will be heading out to participate!

Check out St. John’s Kid for full calendar of what’s going on in the city!

We’re Back!

So we are back. I know we have been away from the blog for a bit and the reason (actually reasons) include Summer, no time, and computer issues.

First off, here in St. John’s we didnt actually start to get warm summer weather until late into the season and that went into early October. We had a great September and enjoyed it! We got outside a lot and just did nothing. Since I will be returning to the work force very soon I’m trying to enjoy all the little things that come along with being off with Hunter. I guess that is where the no time issue comes in as well.

But I’m back and ready to get things up and running again, I have had some computer issues, my poor MacBook Pro (circa 2006) is finally giving up on me. Well it’s just the mag safe power cord but still it hurts a little. Everything is back up and fine now, and I have an iPad now so I will post from here the most I would say.

Another big thing in our family’s life right now is HOCKEY! The AHL is back in St. John’s. We are avid hockey fans and are very excited to see a tenant at Mile One Centre here in the city. Since we were planning on going to most games we purchased two season tickets. Hunter comes along as well, he is allowed in free until he is two years old. More about hockey in an upcoming post.

Thanks for coming back, thanks for joining us on this ride. We have a new YouTube page as well for our reviews etc so you will see some videos soon.

Carla

Quick update

I know I’ve been MIA lately but we have been on holidays and away from the computer. It’s been nice and relaxing! I will do a better update soon!

Hope everyone is having a great summer!

Quick post while on holidays…

I am currently at my inlaws on holidays for a week, and my husband is joining myself and Hunter on Thursday for the long weekend here in Canada.

He checked the mail today (yeah! we have mail service again) and I have three diapers and a wetbag that came, fluff mail!

When he brings them out to me (we are five hours apart) I will take pictures and do a quick post.

Also had a great customer service experience this week. One of our chocolate oh katy diapers had an issue with a snap, and I emailed them and they are sending a replacement asap. Awesome company to deal with and of course the oh katys are my favorite diaper!

Hope your weather is better than ours here in Newfoundland!! RDF (rain….drizzle and lots of FOG!)
